چکیده

In this paper, we present a new framework for warping shapes and open curves between two images. This method could also handle multiple pairs of shapes or curves. When implemented in 3-D, the same framework could be used to warp 3-D objects with minimal modification. Our approach is to use the level set formulation to represent the shapes or curves to be matched. Using this representation, the problem becomes an energy minimization problem. Cost functions for warping overlapping, non-overlapping, and open curves are proposed. For overlapping shapes, a cost function based on minimizing the symmetric difference of the two shapes is used. This cost function is then generalized to deal with non-overlapping shapes as well. For warping open curves, we are inspired by the idea of geodesic active contours. A similar approach, which we will refer to as geodesic curve matching, is proposed. Euler-Lagrange equations are applied and gradient descent is used to solve the corresponding partial differential equations.

An Intelligent System’s Approach for Revitalization of Brown Fields using only Production Rate Data

State-of-the-art data analysis in production allows engineers to characterize reservoirs using production data. This saves companies large sums that should otherwise be spend on well testing and reservoir simulation and modeling. There are two shortcomings with today’s production data analysis: It needs bottom-hole or well-head pressure data in addition to data for rating reservoirs’ characteri...

Surface Matching and Registration by Landmark Curve-Driven Canonical Quasiconformal Mapping

This work presents a novel surface matching and registration method based on the landmark curve-driven canonical surface quasiconformal mapping, where an open genus zero surface decorated with landmark curves is mapped to a canonical domain with horizontal or vertical straight segments and the local shapes are preserved as much as possible. The key idea of the canonical mapping is to minimize t...

Evaluation of a Landmark Curve Matching Technique in Brain Mapping based on the Level Set Method

Introduction The level set method using implicit representation has recently been developed and shown to be capable of matching all types of geometric objects. The method was evaluated in this study for its ability to perform brain surface warping subject to landmark curve constraints. This key step in brain mapping allows multiple subjects’ data to be compared after adjusting for gyral differe...

New Pseudo-CT Generation Approach from Magnetic Resonance Imaging using a Local Texture Descriptor

Background: One of the challenges of PET/MRI combined systems is to derive an attenuation map to correct the PET image. For that, the pseudo-CT image could be used to correct the attenuation. Until now, most existing scientific researches construct this pseudo-CT image using the registration techniques. However, these techniques suffer from the local minima of the non-rigid deformation energy f...

Tracking Objects Using Density Matching and Shape Priors

We present a novel method for tracking objects by combining density matching with shape priors. Density matching is a tracking method which operates by maximizing the Bhattacharyya similarity measure between the photometric distribution from an estimated image region and a model photometric distribution. Such trackers can be expressed as PDE-based curve evolutions, which can be implemented usin...
